
Lawrence Bonassar, Ph.D.
is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical
Engineering at Cornell University’s College of Engineering.
Dr. Bonassar’s research focuses on the regeneration and
analysis of musculoskeletal tissues, including articular cartilage,
intervertebral disc, and bone. Dr. Bonassar joined Cornell University
after five years on the faculty of the Center for Tissue Engineering
at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He completed
postdoctoral fellowships in the Orthopaedic Research Laboratory
at Massachusetts General Hospital and the Center of Biomedical
Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (“MIT”).
Dr. Bonassar currently serves on the editorial board of the journal
Tissue Engineering. Dr. Bonassar earned his Ph.D. and M.S. from
MIT’s School of Material Science and Engineering and a B.S.
from John Hopkins University’s School of Material Science
and Biomedical Engineering.
