
Russell F. Warren, M.D.
is the Surgeon-in-Chief Emeritus at the Hospital for Special Surgery
(“HSS”) and Professor of Orthopedics at the Weill
Medical College of Cornell University. As HSS’ Surgeon-in-Chief,
Dr. Warren co-founded the Soft Tissue Laboratory in 1992 and conducted
novel research on the function, repair, and replacement of cartilage,
ligament, tendon and meniscus. In addition, Dr. Warren has mentored
and trained numerous physician-scientists now practicing across
the United States. Under his leadership, the number of orthopedic
fellows at HSS increased five-fold, and the residency program,
one of the most competitive in the country, flourished. Dr. Warren
is a past President of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports
Medicine and the American Shoulder and Elbow Society. Dr. Warren
has published over 250 peer-reviewed scientific articles and has
been honored several times with the Charles S. Neer Award, which
is awarded annually for the best orthopedics-related basic science
paper. Dr. Warren has been the team physician for the New York
Giants professional football team for the past 20 years. Dr. Warren
completed his orthopedic surgical residency at HSS and obtained
his M.D. from the State University of New York and A.B. from Columbia
University. Dr. Warren is also a Principal at Ivy Capital Partners.
